University College London. A glazed partition wall has been installed in the Engineering Building. This was not only a cheaper option than a like-for-like replacement of a damaged retractable fire curtain but also provided enhanced aesthetic appearance and dramatically reduced noise to the corridor from the café area below.
Birmingham School. On evacuation corridors in large public buildings, there is often a requirement for glazing in the fire walls to provide protection from transfer of heat in addition to fire integrity. Alufire insulated windows, as shown in this Birmingham Schools installation, reinstates the full heat and integrity fire resistance to the evacuation corridors so that the windows do not compromise the fire safety of the building.
